A throwback of an entry I have drafted last May, but took soooo long to post it online because of other priorities in life. Lol. Anyway, this entry would be with regards to my first appointment at KKH. :)
P.s: I hope this can make up for the lack of entries. :p

How time flies; Mr. J and I turned ONE last week. No celebrations as we are up on our neck for several appointments and commitments, but here is an entry anyway! :)
On the 1st of March this year, shortly after I have confirmed that I was pregnant (through the HPT kit), I personally called KKH hotline to request for Dr. June Tan/Dr Suzanna. As usual, they will check my Last Menstrual Period (LMP) and give me a date that the Gynae will be available, akin to the no. of weeks that I was at.
Dr. June Tan wasn't available, so I was going for Dr. Suzanna. She was available on the 7th of July, but the staff who assisted me with the booking, told me to have my scans and checks done at other clinics before I meet up with Dr. Suzanna, and so I did.
So I went to my family's female GP at my 6th week, 9th week and 12th week. Hehe, here are some pictures of the little one below.
Baby seemed to be growing healthily, and normally, Alhamdulillah. Knowing that I had a history of an ectopic pregnancy, my GP called KKH to bring forward my appointment as she felt the 7th of July will be too far off (read: I'd be at my 23rd week by then insya'Allah).
Two days after my 12th week check up, KKH called and told me that they have 2 appointments for me on the 4th of May and the 2nd of June, before my appointment on the 7th of July with Dr. Suzanna on the 7th of July. When I heard that, I was relieved as it meant everything was going under control - tinggal datang and check up je kan.
Well, you think so easy ah? NOT!
Few days prior to my check up on the 4th of May, I went to the online booking system to check my appointment dates again to ensure that I do not mix up any date and time and strangely, there wasn't any appointment shown for the 7th of July.
Nevermind.
4th May 2016:
Appointment day came and I went to KKH alone because Mr. J was working and couldn't apply for leave. My first visit seems so disorganized - to which I thought I was the one who's always bad at navigation, only to be told from my sister that it's normal. Read on and you'll understand why.
In the online booking system, the venue to go to for my check up was Specialist Clinic A, Women's Tower. Registration was okay. But everything after that was... not so okay. :/
I was told to head to 3 places after Registration; Antenatal Monitoring Clinic (AMC) for Ultrasound, Room A1 for Routine Tests, and proceed to see the Doctor at Room 13, in Clinic A.
- Antenatal Monitoring Clinic (AMC):
Being my first time, I didn't know where AMC was so I had to make a U-turn to the Registration Counter and ask. Rupanya the AMC was just behind Clinic A. -.- Went in, look for any signs of "Press for Q no. here", but NIL. I was pacing back and forth in front of the counter, to understand what I was supposed to do. Felt so selenger and frustrated sendiri seh. Haha.
I then observed for a while and look at the cue from other couples (untung seh dorang ada suami temankan!!!) who were there and followed suit. Apparently, we are to stand in front of the staff at the AMC counter, (hope they notice your presence lol) and pass the paper given by the staff at the Registration Counter. They will then help to press the Q number for you. Gituuuuu......... Baru akak tahu. After which, a number was given, and I had to wait outside of AMC where there were rows of seats.
My number was called but there wasn't any indication on where to head on to. Take note that AMC has quite a few rooms to enter, and on the screen, there wasn't any room number. So I went back to the same AMC counter and ask. The staff then told me to go in to Room 1, right opposite the counter. Lerrrr.. How to know kan? Kau ingat macam clinic biasa pe, satu number keluar, terus masuk tu satu bilik je.
Went in and was told by the sonographer to lie down as she would like to take an ultrasound of the baby. Was about to do a recording, konon nak share with Mr. J after that lol, but was stopped, with her Filipino accent, "No picture taking ya, I will give you a picture later".
I could see him/her growing so well inside. Baby was moving his/her right hand (didn't know it was his/her hand - just saw something moving aggressively and asked the sonographer like a blur First Time Mum (FTM) and asked "What's that thing that's moving?" LOL). The sonographer wasn't that gentle though. There was a strong pressure as she pressed down the transducer but I could see baby's limbs and its heart beating so so clearly. Alhamdulillah ;')
According to the sonographer, the size of the baby is at the 13.5 weeks, short of my calculation via LMP by...4 days?
- Room A1 (Routine Tests):
I then headed out to my next station (macam napfa test seh) which was at Room A1. There was also no indication if anyone was even queuing at Room A1 because there wasn't any screen to look for the Q number. Imagine kalau ter-cut people's Q ke apa eh. So, I just stood by the side and wait to observe lah. The staff later noticed me standing and told me to come in and have my Blood Pressure (BP), height and urine checked.
Once everything was okay, she told me to proceed to the last station which was at Room 13.
- Room 13 (Doctor's room):
It was quite a walk down. Saw a "Drop your report here" dropbox right outside the clinic door. Pretty unsure on whether that was meant for patients like me, or........ but did it anyway. Shortly after, my number was called.
The Resident Doctor was Dr. S.heryl L.im where she explained that my routine tests were good and normal. The baby seems normal too. She also mentioned that my EDD is the 5th of November 2016, according to the size of baby from the ultrasound. If we follow strictly on the date according to my LMP, it would be 31st October 2016. That was fine with me lah. I mean, what is a few days difference, right?
The doctor said she will prescribe me some Multi-Vitamins to be taken, but errr... after the Doctor was done, I was told to wait outside, and "someone will tell me where to go", in her own words, no less. Lol, I was expecting some sort of human messenger or some Harry Potter owl to fly to me and pass me a letter on where to go next, but nah. Haha. A nurse came to me few minutes later and told me to head back to AMC (after verifying my IC). Again, I rerouted to AMC and did what I did earlier - go to the counter, and wait to be issued a number. Wah, dah pandai seh!
This time, it was a short consultation on whether I would like to do a down-syndrome test which costs about $375, iirc. I declined to do it and signed off. Insya'Allah, with what I could see from my little understanding of my baby, the baby is doing fine.
FINALLY, payment!
- Payment Counter:
I stood around Clinic A's counters where it said "Payment". But there wasn't an indication anywhere to let me know that we are to sit around and wait for our number to be called - I found out about it only after I approached a nurse who was calling a patient into a room. #sempat #wegottadowhatwegottado
So, anyway, only after payment, do I realised that I wasn't pescribed any Multi-vits. -.- But okay lah, as long as I wasn't charged for any multi-vits in my bill, I guess that's fine.
I then checked with the staff at the counter regarding my appointment date with Dr. Suzanna. Apparently, she said that the appointment with Dr. Suzanna has been cancelled (and I did not know about it lah!) So, she then suggested that either I stick with Dr. L.i.u S.h.u.l.i.n.g or call the KKH hotline to try and get Dr. Suzanna.
Which I tried to.....
..........only to be told that Dr. Suzanna would not be available until my 32nd week in September, which she wont be taking - as I'm considered "passed the no. of week" for any patients that she is willing to take in. i.e. She wont be taking any patients more than 32 weeks of gestational age.
Even though I was heavily disappointed, I have learned to redha and make do with the gynae that was assigned to me. Insya'Allah, ada hikmah.
Alright, that's about it! Till the next entry where I will be talking about my first appointment at The Private Suite (TPS), KKH. Heh.
Let's just hope I don't procrastinate, again. :B
P.s: I hope this can make up for the lack of entries. :p

And here's the lil' one at 9 weeks:
